In May of 2006, Jan participated in the Designer Showhouse at Carnegie Abbey in Portsmouth, RI that was produced by the Newport Showhouse Guild. For the first time ever, there were two houses on tour and Jan transformed the kitchen in the waterfront house by bringing the “outside- in” with an eclectic mix of new pieces along with antiques that made for an inviting and unusual atmosphere with a bit of whimsy…..

In 2008, Jan again was involved in the Designer Showhouse, produced by the Newport Showhouse Guild, titled “Inspired Design” at “Southwind” in Narragansett, RI. The room she designed was “The Lady’s Retreat- The Jewel Box”. The challenge was to work with some of the furnishings and accessories that had special meaning to the owners, Judge Frank and Joyce Caprio….truly an example of the real world of interior design!!

Jan was the guest speaker at the 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006 Rhode Island Home Show and spoke on the subjects of “One-day redecorating”, “Interior Wellbeing” and “Taking the Risk out of Choosing Color for Your Interior & Exterior”.

In the fall of 2007, Jan was invited to do a seminar at the Rhode Island School of Design’s Continuing Education program on “One-Day Redecorating: Creating Your Interior Sanctuary With What You Have”.  Along with a power point presentation of before and after photos, the students were able to assist in redecorating a living room in a home near by. She, also, did another seminar in the summer of 2008 focused on color.

Jan is currently a member of the South Kingstown Chamber of Commerce, an affiliate member of the Newport Board of Realtors, an affiliate member of the Women’s Council of Realtors, Business Network International (BNI), Newport Chapter and the Women’s Network RI.
